Level 5 Family Support Specialist, Illinois Regional Office of Education #47

Diana Meridian (maiden name is Diana Vasquez) was born and raised in Sterling, IL, and received her Associate’s Degree from Sauk Valley Community College, a Bachelor’s of Arts (Healthcare Studies) and a Master’s in Education (Family and Community Services) from Ashford University in Clinton, IA.

Family: Her family is my rock and my unwavering support. Her husband, Jacob, and their three children provide comedy and silliness to life. She is a proud Auntie of 20 nieces and nephews and 25 great-nieces and nephews.

Employment: Diana has served as a Level 5 Family Support Specialist for the Regional Office of Education #47 (ROE) in Lee, Ogle, and Whiteside Counties for three years at Riverdale Preschool For All program. She is the Family and Student Services Coordinator for the Nexus/Attendance Support Program, Community/Data Systems Manager for the IRIS referral system within the community, and an Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant with the ROE. In addition, she has partnered with programs and projects such as IARSS (Illinois Association for Regional Superintendents), GOECD (Governor’s Office of Early Childhood), Birth to Five Illinois, and Illinois Action for Children. On a typical day, she works with families experiencing homelessness and students at risk of dropping out. As a result, you will often find her advocating for support and compassion for those who need a person in their corner.

Community Involvement: Diana has served on the local Early Childhood Collaboration (Sauk Valley STARS) since 2014. She is a current member of the Raising Illinois Home Visiting Workgroup and a current member of Sacred Heart Church in Sterling. In addition, she is a Former Board director of Home of Hope Cancer Wellness Center, a former Middle School Youth Group Cathetist, and a former Confirmation Leader at Sacred Heart Church in Sterling. During the holidays, you will find her delivering food and Christmas gifts to families in need *dressed as an elf.
