Director of Government Relations, Mississippi Department of Education

Holly Spivey serves as the Director of Government Relations at the Mississippi Department of Education. In her role, she works to ensure the Department’s education policy initiatives are addressed in the Legislature and with stakeholders across Mississippi. As a former classroom teacher with a long tenure in the executive branch of state government, Holly is uniquely qualified to balance the needs of Mississippi’s schoolchildren with the demands and intricacies of state government. Holly graduated from Belhaven University, where she earned both her Bachelors and Masters of Education. She taught in the Jackson Public School District for seven years and homeschooled two children for three years before joining the Office of Governor Haley Barbour in 2009 as the Director of the Head Start Collaboration Office. Holly continued her work through the administration of Governor Phil Bryant before her role expanded to include Education Policy Advisor under Governor Tate Reeves.
